Key Largo ist eine Stadt
in Monroe County, im US-Bundesstaat Florida, auf der gleichnamigen Insel in den
Upper Florida Keys. Die Stadt hat 11.886 (2000)
Einwohner. Der Name kommt aus dem spanischen Cayo Largo (Lange Insel). Es ist
die erste Insel der Florida Keys und der Ausgangspunkt des Overseas Highway nach Key West.
Der Film Gangster in Key Largo aus dem Jahre 1948 mit Edward G. Robinson und Humphrey Bogart wurde hier gedreht. Humphrey-Bogart-Fans können dort das Originalboot aus dem Film African Queen bewundern.

Diving, snorkeling and glass bottom boating in our clear waters of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary is a fantastic experience.
Opportunities to fish our backcountry or deep sea abound. Watersport activities are plentiful and for the nature lovers, there is kayaking, swimming with the dolphins, air boat rides and everglades tours. Or, just relax with a tropical beverage and do nothing at all but watch our beautiful sunsets!
Accommodations in Key Largo range from full-service resorts to small individually owned motels, all are known for their relaxing atmosphere and ambiance. The island’s campgrounds are scenic and friendly with tent and full service RV sites.
